Although the volcano is now classified as "Green Level", meaning that it is not expected to erupt, the volcano is still best known for its historic eruption in AD 79 that led to the burying and destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. These lost cities have since been discovered and now provide us with a fascinating glimpse back in time.

Tour Itinerary

This day tour starts with a pick-up from your Amalfi Coast hotel (or a designated meeting point). You will then have the opportunity to enjoy wonderful coastal views as you are taken by bus up Mount Vesuvius to a level of 1000 meters. Our guide will then take you another 200 meters up by foot to a large crater from where you can take in some of the most breath-taking views of the Bay of Naples. After spending some time at this amazing landmark you will be returned to the Amalfi Coast.
